Private Apartment Living: Rent.com, Apartments.com, Craigslist
Since choosing a housing is such a personal decision, with so many options and possibilities to choose from, Learnet Academy has no responsibility, it is the students’ responsibility to make their own living arrangements. Housing prices within a 5 mile radius of our campus range on average from $500 (Shared Room), $700 (Studio), up to $2000 (Single Room). Price estimates are obtained from Commercial Property Management, a business specializing in apartment rentals in central Los Angeles. Academic Services
The school is responsible for maintaining student files of all current students enrolled at Learnet Academy, as well as ongoing status records and monitoring of student progress throughout the program. Learnet Academy has an on campus library offering current and up to date materials and texts related to our courses offered.
Learnet Academy does perform academic advisement. Academic advisors assist students in creating individualized educational plans. Advisement includes planning an appropriate program of study and helping the student schedule classes. Advisors provide guidance with specific program requirements as well as general school requirements and procedures. Advisors also can assist students in developing career goals and making both short and long-term plans to reach those goals.
LEARNING RESOURCES SYSTEM
The library and all its contents are Learnet’s Learning Resources System (LRS). The information technology in the LRS is available 24 hours/7 days a week to the students and faculty by utilizing a digital LRS, that are three major components to this academic library: 1) Library World Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), 2) Library Information Resource Network (LIRN) and LexisNexis®, and 3) Our collection of e-books.
Learnet Academy Library is pleased to present new material in our physical library located on campus and additional online resources for easier access for students and faculty members. The new website has a new format that guides patrons to useful resources for professional development, research, and academic materials.
We have begun to build our new e-library, which includes an online catalog through Library World that allows users to browse our current holdings, check the status of loans, and reserve materials remotely. We have also acquired LIRN, an online database vendor that allows faculty and students to access the latest journals and research from various fields.
Learnet has also added many books to our library to broaden our library for both academic and leisure reading. Please come and explore our new and improved space!
Library operating hours are 9a-10p, Monday to Friday. All online resources are available 24/7. For any inquiries or reference questions, please contact the librarian at library@learnet.edu.
If the librarian is unavailable, please contact the Reception Desk at (213) 387-4242.

1098 Request form
Memorandum
Issue
Is an Educational Institute obligated to issue form 1098-T to all the students who were attending the school during year without students requesting the forms.
Discussion
Pursuant to IRS regulations, there are a few exceptions to the filing requirements for the form 1098-T.
Exceptions
You do not have to file Form 1098-T or furnish a statement for:
• Courses for which no academic credit is offered, even if the student is otherwise enrolled in a degree program;
• Nonresident alien students, unless requested by the student;
• If the student was a visa student who did not have a valid Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) on file. IRS regulations specify that the University is not required to issue a 1098-T in this situation, unless the student requests the form.
• Students whose qualified tuition and related expenses are entirely waived or paid entirely with scholarships; and
• Students for whom you do not maintain a separate financial account and whose qualified tuition and related expenses are covered by a formal billing arrangement between an institution and the student's employer or a governmental entity, such as the Department of Veterans Affairs or the Department of Defense.
The link to the above stated exceptions is at http://www.irs.gov/instructions/i1098et/ar02.html
The deadline to issue copy of 1098-T to the student is January 31 of each year. For practical purposes, you can issue corrected form 1098-T or issue late requests until end of February. The due date to submit copies of issued 1098-T is February 28 of each year. After the due date, late reporting to the IRS carries penalty of $50, up to a maximum of $100,000 for a calendar year, is imposed for each failure to comply with any specified information reporting requirement on or before the prescribed time (IRS code section 6723).
Conclusions
The school is not required to issue and furnish form 1098-T to the VISA Student who did not have valid Social Security Numbers or Taxpayer's Identification Numbers at the time of school registration. It is the individual student's responsibility to notify the school upon changes in their immigrant status. The school should honor student's request but let the student know potential late filing penalties imposed by the IRS due to their late request.
