Q. What do I need to set up my Library Account?
A. A current phone number, e-mail, address, and Learnet Academy or California ID

Q. Can I use other materials in the library? (reference materials, catalogues, articles, directories, etc.)
A. Some periodicals may be taken from the library free of charge. College catalogues and directories may be used within the Library and Multi-Media Center, but may not be taken from the designated areas.

Q. How many books can I check out at a time?
A. There are currently no limits to how many materials a patron may borrow; please discuss your plans for taking multiple materials with the librarian.

Q. How do I know when my book is due?
A. You may check the status of your materials on Library World under your patron account. A due date notice may be provided if requested. The librarian will notify you when your materials are due and overdue.

Q. Can I borrow Laptops or A/V equipment?
A. Projectors, laptops, A/V equipment, and speakers are only available for checkout by faculty and staff.

Q. Can I borrow CDs, DVDs, and disks?
A. All disks may be borrowed for a period of three days (with an available renewal of two extra days).

Q. Can I use the Multi-Media Center as a study room?
A. Yes, the Multi-Media Center is available during campus hours to anyone who wishes to use it. Patrons must abide by the Multi-Media Center guidelines.

Q. Can I use library materials in the Multi-Media Center without borrowing them?
A. Yes, materials not checked out must stay within the Library and Multi-Media Center. Patrons may read materials in the Multi-Media center without borrowing them

 

Q. Where can I find e-books?
A. Currently we offer a limited selection of e-books through LIRN. Also, we have a link to a list of e-books on our e-Library web page that you may choose from. Simply select the e-book you want to read and email the librarian and library@learnet.edu and you will be emailed a digital file of the e-book. This list can also be found in a binder in the Multi-media room and the request can be made in person or over the telephone.

Q. How do I access Library World and LIRN?
A. Login access to both Library World and LIRN can be provided by the librarian. Library World can be found at www.libraryworld.com. There is a link to Library World on our e-Library web page. And you may download the Library World app on your digital device. The specific name of our catalog library is Learnet Academy Library. Only AA degree students and their instructors may access LIRN. LIRN can be found at www.lirn.net and there is also a link to LIRN on our e-Library web page. Both Library World and LIRN can be accessed remotely from Learnet Academy by using online sources.

Q. Once I have graduated, will I still be able to access the Learnet Academy Library?
A. Learnet Academy Library is only accessible to currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff of Learnet Academy. Alumni and visitors are encouraged to use public library facilities.

Q. What is the penalty fee for a later return on an overdue book?
A. Late fees may accrue at the rate of 25 cents per item per day for any overdue materials. The librarian has the right to assess the charges once the second overdue notice is sent.

Q. Can I use the resource room computers for more than 60 minutes?
A. The allotted time per patron is 60 minutes per day, however patrons may request to extend their computer privileges for the day with the librarian if there isn't a wait list. Please review our Multi-Media Center and Computer Policies for more information.
